My Story
For years I felt trapped in my body. I peaked at nearly 350 pounds, was carrying deep shame and feeling spiritually disqualified. I knew I wasn’t stewarding the body God had given me. My weight had become a wall, between me and others, and even worse, between me and God.
Then one day, the story of David and Goliath came alive to me.
God wanted David to be king of Israel, but He didn’t make that happen by giving David a crown, instead, God gave him a Giant! David was a lowly shepherd who showed great courage and volunteered to face Goliath even when all the mighty warriors of the current king were too afraid. David didn’t stand still and wait for the giant to come to him. He declared, “The battle is the Lord’s, he ran toward the giant that God gave him, and with a single stone, his shepherd’s stone, he defeated him.”
I realized I had been waiting for God to miraculously fix my life while I stayed passive. But God calls us to surrender first, then faithfully do the work…
To pick up our stone and run at our giants.
That truth became the foundation of Shepherd’s Stone.
What’s Shepherd’s Stone?
After losing nearly 50% of my body weight, I get asked the same question almost everywhere I go: “What did you do?” It’s a simple question, but the real answer is never simple when you only have a few minutes standing in a parking lot or driveway. The truth is, it wasn’t just one or two things. It was a complete shift in how I approached my body, my mind, and my relationship with God.
Alongside the story of David and Goliath, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 became a life verse for me throughout this transformation:
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
God put it on my heart to share what I’ve learned with other men who are fighting the same battles I fought for years. I wanted to give them more than a casual conversation in a few minutes.
That’s why I started Shepherd’s Stone — to create a place where men can learn how to steward their bodies, renew their minds, and strengthen their souls for glory of God.
This isn’t about quick fixes or another temporary diet. It’s about real, lasting transformation through biblical stewardship.
Surrender first. Then do the work.
The battle is the Lord’s… Now pick up your stone and run at your giant! I’m so glad your here!
